History of the Mega Gulp

I think many people consume hundreds of calories without realizing it when they drink sugary drinks. Juice, soda, beer, energy drinks, and iced tea are a few examples of drinks with lots of sugar.

This website gives a brief pictorial history of the road to oversized beverages. Think twice next time you order a large soda, and think again when you refill it!


Update (Sept 22) — This article just came out ‘Studies more firmly tie sugary drinks to obesity.

The article notes that sugary drinks are not the only thing factoring into rising obesity rates. High caloric drinks do seem to play a role though and for that reason this article is worth a read.
