Egg Yolk Risks Compared to Smoking Risks?

This study identified that eating 3 or more egg yolks a week can increase plaque build up about two-thirds as much as smoking does. This is especially a concern for diabetics and can increase their coronary health by 200-500%.

While this is a big concern for people predisposed to heart problems it should also be on the minds of young people. Eating meals high in cholesterol even as a healthy young person can increase the risk of cardiovascular disease at a later age.

I am curious to learn more about cholesterol in my program then revisit this study.

Background: “Atherosclerosis, also called coronary artery disease, occurs when plaque builds up in the blood vessels leading to the heart, specifically the inner arterial wall, and limits the amount of blood that can pass through.”

Important Notes about the Study: “In addition to relying completely on the recollection of patients as to what they ate, the study did not account for waist circumference and it did not account for a patient’s exercise program.  And perhaps most notably, it only looked at patients with existing cardiovascular issues.”
