Fructose and Alcohol: Mirror Images of One Another?

When I saw this headline I immediately was curious. Numerous studies show that sugar in excess amount is unhealthy and like alcohol politics has tried to convey this with efforts like the soda tax. While biochem heavy in the background the author does a good job of summarizing his points.

Hope this is just as interesting to you. And, maybe will make you think twice about all those candy bars!

My favorite line:

“The biggest difference between the two is that alcohol can be taken up by your brain and fructose can’t.  You know when you’ve had too much alcohol, but excessive fructose isn’t readily detected by the body. You just stay hungry and slowly get more FAT.”
